Our story
A family that’s handed over the keys since 1979
EMM Car Hire began when Emanuel Gauci put his first cars on the road in 1979. More than four decades later, we’re still a local, family-run business in Bugibba and Qawra, and still run on the same idea he started with: look after people well and they’ll come back.
We’re not a faceless international chain. When you hire from us, you deal with the family. That’s why so much of our business is repeat visitors and word of mouth: good service, reliability, and no hidden extras.

Your questions, answered
Who can drive the car?
Drivers aged 25 to 70 with a valid licence held for at least 24 months. Drivers aged 21–25 or 71–75 are welcome too, with a small additional insurance charge.
Is mileage really unlimited?
Yes. Every rate includes unlimited mileage and full maintenance of the car. Just return it with reasonable wear and tear, and explore as much of Malta and Gozo as you like.
What’s included in the price, and what isn’t?
Your rate includes the car, its maintenance and unlimited mileage. Fuel is not included, and 18% VAT is added. There are no surprise extras. The quote we give you is the price you pay.
Can you deliver to the airport or my hotel?
Yes. We arrange delivery and collection to most parts of Malta, including Malta International Airport, for an additional charge. Just tell us where you’d like the keys.
Who pays for traffic fines?
Any traffic fines or contraventions during your hire are the driver’s responsibility, as is fuel. Everything else about running the car is on us.
